British BBQ by claremanson British BBQ by claremanson
Corn on the cob, turkey, pepper, onion, courgette and tomato kebab skewers, hot dogs using high quailty 98% local pork (not the horrible frankfurter type!) with ketchup and mustard. For dessert fruit kebabs with British strawberries (using British strawberries is very important to me, imported strawberries especially those from Spain are awful!) with a drizzle of honey, a sprinkle of cinnamon and Cornish clotted cream (wiki clotted cream if you don't know what it is)

Today is the hottest day of the year so far in the UK so we decided to make the most of it and have a little BBQ in the garden with the kids.

We are not going to buy a BBQ grill especially to use twice a year with the weather the UK has so the skewers and sausages were oven cooked (these can also be grilled or fried) and the corn on the cob simply boiled in salted water before covering with a knob of butter.

I didn't have the hot dogs, as they are not gluten free and I can not stand gluten free bread, I did have the skewers though, which both me and the kids had second and even thirds helpings of same goes for the fruit kebab.

Other than pictured (chicken instead of turkey) cooking other chicken products such as strips, burgers, drumsticks, thighs, hot wings and eating burgers, bbq ribs and drinking beer is another very British thing to have at a bbq oh and bbqing in the rain to!

I got normal food back. I am not in the classes anymore. I am trying to continue the weight loss on my own now. I go back twice a month to weigh in that is all. :) I had mac and cheese last night.

It helps when I generally don't eat anything I bake. Though that is changing a bit. :)

It's a shame that the weather didn't cooperate for Carl's birthday so that we could've been outside for our BBQ. It was still all very nice. The burgers were my favourite. =) Looks like this was a nice BBQ that you had.

It was great having it outside but was still good for Carl's birthday, the company made us not even think of the weather :)

Eeeee! It all looks so awesome, especially the hotdogs! Want want want! :hungry: If this is how you barbeque in the UK, I have one more good reason for hoping to visit your beautiful country someday! :giggle: (...What are courgettes, though? I've never heard of them... :ashamed:)

Courgettes are known as zucchini in some countries if that helps.

They're better when you stuff them with cheese and herbs and breadcrumbs, or when you slice them really thin and deep-fry them with coating. But then that's just my unhealthy Southern U.S. tastes! ;)

Your food looks delicious! Shame you don't have a grill though, you'll miss the flavors that a grill adds to meat, the smoky flavors of a good BBQ can't be matched with an oven, though I can relate to your viewing point on buying a grill. :)

Hey we just had a BBQ too, on Sunday... although its been super hot and sunny here recently and we did it for the opposite reason, the weather dropped below 90 degrees (~32 degrees to you celsius peeps) and also it was my sons baby blessing (something my church does) so we were celebrating that :)

i often wonder where heat feels like in other parts of the world; here in texas it's hot a lot of the time, and i can't stand it, most of the time for that blasted sun! so darn bright! both for the heat and the light i would never want to go outside. but that might just be because i'm a vampire XD your bbq looks wholesome! the hot dogs look goooood, the ones i'm exposed to are always the processed kind =P

it's cold, windy and raining here most of the time here, we didn't even get a proper summer this year. The last two days were glorious but today i have got up to grey skies and a wet garden, going to get worse by the end of the week *sigh

Looks delicious! I live in an apartment at the moment so we've no garden. Looks like I'll be missing out on barbeques this summer. I guess there's always picnics in the park to fall back on :D

you don't have to miss out completely, like i said all the food was made in the oven so you could have an indoor bbq :)

OK, now I'm mad at you! Thanks to your little posting, my stomach is grumbling, my tongue is drying out as it hangs loosely, and I've just drooled on the keyboard... oh yeah, and now I have two of my kids walk by and go "OOOOOH! Can we have that for dinner tonight???" So just thank you very, very much!

Well, sarcasm aside I really mean that last part! It's been rainy and nasty, and I haven't really wanted to go to the store, but I've got all the stuff for a great (indoor) BBQ! So I guess you just decides what we're having for dinner!

it does rain a lot which is why the second we do have any sun everyone goes mad over it and gets the BBQ going the second they can but this often ends with rain! in winter it was -7oC summer about 30oC but last years summer sucked it mostly rained, was cloudy and windy like the rest of the year.

35C in the south at the height of summer to about -5C in a bad winter.

About 10C colder up north.
