Burger Cake

Vanilla sponge buns with a chocolate and Oreo burger, vanilla butter cream lettuce, tomato and cheese with a squirting of jam tomato sauce!

Tomorrow is my husbands birthday. He works at Mcdonalds so as a bit of a joke decided a burger cake had to be done as he hates his job! He also wants a BBQ for his birthday so a burger cake seemed an even more natural thing to make!

I know the vanilla sponge came out a little darker than I would have liked but the cake took longer to bake than normal so browned a lot more than usual. Other than that, spilling my bottle of vanilla everywhere and my kitchen being a complete mess! it all went well. I didn't want the cake to be really neat and tidy, that is not how of think of burgers especially seeing them in Mcdonalds and on a BBQ they are always rather rustic looking, hence the "spillage" of ketchup on the plate!
