Halloween 2012, my wedding day. The theme was red and black so a red and black cake it just had to be.
It took three people to make this cake (i knew i would be too nervous and stressed to do it alone, which i was) My mother-in-law baked the sponges for me using my recipe. The bottom tier is chocolate sponge, two middle tiers bright red vanilla sponge layered with jam. The top tier is also a bright red vanilla sponge with jam but gluten free just for me. The whole cake is covered in black chocolate ganache as none of us are really keen on marzipan and icing plus i wanted something quick and easy. Making the ganache, sorting out the tiers with cake boards and dowels and decorating alone took 4 hours. On top the cake is the amazing cake topper my great friend and maid of honour
made of me and my husband out of polymer clay which she then painted. Sorry it is not the best photo, we finished the cake the night before we had to take it to the reception so had to take photos while it was a little dark.
