I call it a semi trifle because to me a proper trifle must have whipped cream, several layers and ideally in my family if there is time jelly (or jello to you Americans)
As i said in a recent journal post i don't have much time for baking at the moment. I had some eggs needing to be used up so yesterday made a simple vanilla sponge when i had a spare 5 minutes so that i could store and use for other things over the coming days. Today a 5 minute semi-trifle made at 6am this morning as a little treat to go in my eldest daughters lunch box today. Sponge pieces soaked in a little juice of the tinned oranges used, marmalade, tinned custard and a little grated dark chocolate on top.
