Tomorrow is Shrove Tuesday
Shrove Tuesday (also known as Pancake Day) is the day preceding Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. Shrove Tuesday is linked to Easter, so its date changes on an annual basis.
In most traditions the day is known for the eating of pancakes before the start of Lent. Pancakes are eaten as they are made out of the main foods available, sugar, fat, flour and eggs, whose consumption was traditionally restricted during the ritual fasting associated with Lent.

This time of year in England all the supermarkets have isles dedicated to making pancakes. Ready made pancakes, pancake mixes, lemons, sugar, raisins and syrup (the usual toppings that are used here) Personally I am not really much of a pancake fan but searching through these photos is starting to change my mind.
Enjoy.

Hello!
I have just noticed I haven't updated my journal since Christmas 2017! Much has changed since then, I'm still baking and making YouTube videos, I just have less time for both as I have been doing other things.
In summary, last year we got a kitten called Oliver, some of you may remember me posting a photo of him when we got first got him as a kitten. He's doing well, it's his first birthday tomorrow already!
I'm still busy decorating the house. Four years we've been working on it now and we're still not done but all that's left now is the bigger jobs like getting a new kitchen, new flooring, doors and windows so I've moved my focus more onto
Merry Christmas, Happy Baking!
For those of you wanting to do some Christmas baking this year, here are some of my favourite recipe videos put together in one place that make great gifts, all of which are simple and easy to make. This year I made the chocolate orange fudge again, everyone loved it!
Merry Christmas everyone, have a fantastic holiday.
Clare.

I've been meaning to make a public Instagram for ages as I take a lot of snap shots of my baking, gardening, decorating and of my collections that I love to share with other people with similar interests.
Yesterday I finally got round to making one after deciding to join the Funko Photo A Day challenge. If you are a Pop collector, I highly recommend it as it's is a lot of fun to do.
House Makeover Progress
As some of you that have been following me for a while already know, a little over two years ago I moved into a fixer upper house which led me to be far less active as I used to be here on DA. I still adore baking, photography and making YouTube videos, it's just hard finding the time with so many things needing to be done.
Back along I wrote a couple journals entries, sharing photos of my garden and living room transformations. Since then I've decorated both my children's bedrooms, one of which twice due to using cheap white paint the first time around which discoulored to patchy yellow (we learn by our mistakes!) I have also stripped and p

Dutch pancakes have the size of the frying pan you use to bake them in, and they are plieable and have the thickness of a tortilla wrap.
Ordered in a restaurant they usually have the size of a pizza, but still they are plieable and have the same thickness as mentioned before.
Traditional they are eaten as a dessert after a thick soup, especially the dutch pea soup (which is called "snert") with fried bacon pancakes (spekpannekoeken) served with ehh.. stroop (like molasses, very sweet)
More usual is to have just a pancake meal, with various things to go with it, like honey, jam, several kinds of sugar, molasses, nutella, you just choose the one you like to have on your pancake.
Mine are almost always made with thin slices of a bacon type of meat, (cured and smoked salted pork), however you can bake them plain, or use sliced apple, anything to your imagination and taste.
