Pancake DayTomorrow, Tuesday February 12th is Pancake Day here in the UK. Sugar, lemon juice and for those who like them, raisins are the basic typical extras to be added around here. Tasty but having the same thing every year can get a little boring so, if like me you fancy something different but have yet to decide what to fill or top your pancakes with, here are some tasty looking ideas to get you started.Still looking for more ideas? then check out last years Pancaktastic feature!

Still Life Stills Features: Festive FlavoursEveryone has their own idea of what is festive to them, I was going to feature just one flavour but there are so many i could not decide. What counts as festive varies greatly depending on family traditions, culture, taste and smell. This is what is festive to me. Chestnuts, peppermint, chocolate, orange, cranberry, cinnamon, mince pies, rum, brussel sprouts, stuffing, cheese and crackers, pickled onions, cheesecake and pigs wrapped in blankets. All these foods are a combination of my families tastes over the years rubbing off on me. What is festive for you?
Still Life Stills Features: Making OfI absolutely adore food photography but rarely do I find the time to take photos of ingredients or of the making process so seeing such photos makes a wonderful change.Banana chocolate chip cookies by Nattyw
Still Life Stills Features: LEGOLEGO, fun for all ages!In 1949 Lego began producing the now famous interlocking bricks, calling them "Automatic Binding Bricks" The bricks, were a development of traditional stackable wooden blocks that locked together by means of several round studs on top and a hollow rectangular bottom. The blocks snapped together, but not so tightly that they required extraordinary effort to be separated. The bricks however, still had some problems from a technical standpoint requiring the right material and design needing to be found. In 1958, the modern brick design was developed and was patented on 28 January that year. Bricks from that time are still compatible with today's current bricks.full Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lego
Introduction to Cross StitchingCross StitchingCross stitch is one of a number of embroidery stitches, but usually the one most people are familiar with. Whether it was in a school art class or just randomly picking up a cross stitch kit as a kid, a lot of us have tried it at some point. Lets delve into this popular stitch a little bit. What is a cross stitch? As the name suggests, is is simply a cross, or an 'X' stitched with thread onto canvas. Typically, it's used to make a picture or a pattern. The stitch will form a complete square, and in this regard it is quite similar to pixel art. Through the placement of individual stitches adjacent to one another, an overall image will eventually appear. It's an incredibly simple stitch, but can take some time to master. Like many crafts, it can be difficult to notice the

Plated DessertsPlating can be such an underrated art form at times. I've often heard it dismissed as 'boring', 'sterile' and criticised for all looking the same. Maybe we just have a tendency to lust after the rustic, messy desserts. Maybe we like to tear down what is seen as a hoity-toity way of presenting food. Or maybe we just don't see the skill and technique that goes into plating.Skillful plating up of food requires a good eye, a steady hand and a flair for design. Careful consideration goes into everything from which way the dish is offset, to the type of garnishes on it, to the type of plate it is presented on. It, in turn, necessitates learning a whole host of other skills and techniques to create the garnishes that adorn the dish. These deviants show off their plating skills with a host of delicious desserts.~~~Chocolate mousse

Urbex #11"The places where one could be both mad...and safe."Abandoned Hospitals and Asylums are one of the most popular sites amongst Urban Explorers and whilst we don't get the same variety of choice in the UK as Americans might do, we do have a fair share of interesting forgotten locations. But in the USA, from the mid-nineteenth century to the early twentieth century, over 250 institutions for the 'insane' were built. These places housed over half a million patients... Imagine the secrets the remaining walls hold! The reason for the now abandonment of these once thriving hives of activity was the move towards more community based care, more developed medications and of course, stricter laws. This Weeks Features
Photography Weekly: Edition Twenty ThreePhotography Weekly Header created by TouchedD“Photography deals exquisitely with appearances, but nothing is what it appears to be.” - Duane MichalsStill Life is the theme of this weeks article given that it's Still Life Week over at projecteducate! I'm living and breathing still life works right now, and actually it's quite nice. I've discovered some fantastic talent on deviantART, conducted some awesome interviews and started up a group with the wonderful claremanson If you want a sneak peek head over to Still-Life-Stills But really the whole definition and ideal of Still Life has eluded me for quite some time and was something I deliberately avoided because I didn't believe in it. If you take an image, you have stilled life. By rights this means that everything out there is Still Life photography. Even when you're capturing movement, you're stilling it for just a few seconds. So why then, do we hav
