R.I.P Robin WilliamsI am totally stunned by the news of the passing of Robin Williams. I don't normally get very emotional about celebrities but I really am upset and shaken by this, lots of tears today.
He was and will always remain a legend in so many ways. I grew up watching him in one of my favourite Disney movies as a kid, Aladdin and of course Jumanji, Hook, Mrs Doubtfire and so many other movies, he was so diverse I loved his comedy and serious roles. Even if I didn't like a particular movie he starred in very much he would always be awesome and would make it worth watching as he had such a great and unique voice and wonderful energy and talent.
This morning the kids and I watched Robots, the first movie of his I could find as our little tribute to him.
R.I.P Robin Williams, you will be sorely missed.
10 years of DA!That's right! Back on August 10th 2004 I joined Deviantart after an online friend showed me the site. At first I joined to submit my sketches and poems, most of which have long been deleted because they were so bad! Over the years I have tried so many art genres (some still remain in my gallery in various folders) before falling in love with baking and food photography a few years ago.
I know I have been rather quiet on here over the past year, I'm still battling my demons of depression and anxiety, which has got so much worse since losing my Grandma in May. I have now got to the point where I am considering medication as I feel so ill all the time, the physical stress of anxiety and depression on my body makes me so tired and lightheaded all the time which means I have no energy or interest in baking or doing anything that involves a lot of walking around or being on my feet a
HolidaysThe six weeks holidays will be starting at the end of this week, that means I will be going rather quiet again on DA as I will have both kids at home with me so will have less time for DA.
Everyone have a wonderful summer, keep up the good work and I will be back properly again the beginning of October once everything is sttled down with the new school year to catch up on everyone's uploads and messages. If you have any baking questions head on over and ask them on my facebook page where I receive notifications of messages on my phone so can get back to you a lot quicker as the kids will probably be hogging the laptop most days watching videos of Frozen on YouTube constantly.
Hello Internet! As the title suggests, after 3 weeks being offline due to moving, we have the internet back.
We pretty much settled in straight away, the kids love the new house and we managed to unpack everything fairly quickly, mostly due to a lot of our stuff going into storage, only taking essential things to the current house. My dad has almost finished work on the old house so we will be putting it on the market over the next couple of weeks. After that it will be a waiting game to sell so we can then look for a bigger, better house.
Our current kitchen is tiny, as is the house. We have the fridge, tv, computer and dryer all next to each other in the living room. We also had to get rid of one of our sofas and do a lot of rearranging to get everything to fit in. Apart from that and some random problems with the house the landlord needs to sort out we really like it here. It is very quiet and has has all the essentials so makes for perfect temporary accomm
UpdateHello everyone! It's been a long time since I've been on DA to speak to anyone or to post many things. Today I can tell you why.
Firstly, a month ago my Grandma was admitted to hospital where they discovered she was very ill. After being discharged from hospital she went into a care home. Pretty much every day I took the kids in to see her, Grandma was always very happy yo see us as she was such a proud grandmother/great grand mother who had so much love and bought so much joy to those around her. She sure was a fighter, the last time I saw her was Tuesday morning, that afternoon she was gone. Now, my wonderful Grandma, a huge part of my life and big influence as to how a human being should behave, kind, gentle, loving and caring has been reunited with my Grandpa after twenty years apart and soon will be laid to rest next to him.
Here I share with you my most treasured photo of her and the only decent photo of all my family together taken on our wedd
Tagged!Firstly, thank you everyone for the Birthday wishes! I am one of these people who love everyone elses birthdays as I get to buy/make then presents and treats but hate the attention my own brings! Saying that, it turned out to be a good day! I spent the morning baking (No I didn't make myself a cake or get a cake) for my best friend and his girlfriend who are moving house so it's a little gift to them. I also did a photoshoot of the same baked treats. In the afternoon we went to the coffee shop for a hot chocolate but I ended up just getting a gluten free brownie which was amazing instead. From my husband I got the collectors special edition box set of Sherlock, Metallica's Through The Never (which gave me goosebumps watching it! Loved it) I also got a "I am SHER locked" t shirt and some chocolates. Lets not talk about the huge hideous Orchid my husband also got me.
Anyway on with the tagging from my best friend!

Hello!Hello everyone! How are you all doing?
You may or may not have noticed I have gone a little quiet here on DA lately so thought I would give you a little update on the reason for my semi absence and why my inbox is full of new things to look at!
Firstly, just after Christmas I found out we can move house in a couple of months. Not only will we be moving house once this year but twice! (long story) Anyway, since then I have spent most of the time sorting out the entire house and there is so much more that needs to be done!
Secondly, my anxiety is pretty bad, I think I may suffer from SAD also which is making it a lot worse. I am low, don't really want to go out, do any of my hobbies, I am always tired and just have no energy for anything. Thinking about it I get it every year as I am just a completely different person in winter than in summer but never has it been so bad as it is now. Anxiety can make

Creating your own MangaIntroduction
You have a great story, a bunch of characters and you want to create a manga. However, where do you start? Do you have it Left->Right or Right->Left? How should you publish it (*note: some publishers may have additional requirements/restrictions)?
The process is pretty much the same for any graphic progression such as comics.
Luckily, there are a great number of tutorials to help you on your way.
A storyboard is a panel or series of panels which detail the sequence of significant events in a planned scene, i.e. a rough sketch coupled with some words to describe the actions in the scene.
At this point you'd need to have an idea of whether you are making a left->right or right->left manga.
Photoshop tutorial- PS basics 4I'm back with my journal tutorials for Photoshop. I didn't post any new journal tutorial in a while. Anyway, my previous tutorial you can check here. I'll describe some Photoshop basics for everyone who try to learn to use Photoshop. So in this article you'll find tutorials: Tilt-Shift, Customizing brush 2, Lens Flare, Mask Tool,.
If you wish to see images in full resolution then simply click on the images below (they are big 1920 x 1080 px). I used Photoshop CC here, so some things may be different in lower PS versions. But most of things may be the same in all PS versions. I'll make even more tutorials like this, so stay tuned. And if you like it, then you can fav this article. Thank you and enjoy. I hope it's helpful. More tutorials by me you can see in feature below.
PE: How to Scan and Adjust ImagesTutorial Time: How to scan and adjust images on Photoshop!
Hello everyone, welcome to this tutorial article of PE week!
well, you know, there is this youtube channel where there's lots of videos regaring tips, tricks and general advice for artists, and it is the best I've seen of the kind. But sadly, it is only in portuguese - hence why cinyu came up with the great idea of getting me to translate one of their videos!
I decided to pick up this one regarding scanning and adjusting images on photoshop, because that is one of the most basic, yet worst parts for many traditional artists. This tutorial is mostly for scanning black and white works, so it'll be more useful if you're working on manga/comic pages or inked art, but I hope it'll give you some ideas and help out in general on how scanning works.
I'll be translating the most important parts of the video, along with screenshots. Let's get started!
Things you'll need:
When It's HardHi folks! I realized in my most recent round of blogs that I've been a little quick to tell you all to put on your grown up panties, but this one is going to be a little different. Making art can be one of the most exhilarating things you'll ever do, but (and this is from personal experience also) 80% of the time you're going to fail. You'll spill your ink all over that glorious drawing. Oil from your hands will permanently stain only the portion of paper that was meant to remain a snowy white. Your computer's hard drive will crash or all your image files (all the WIPs especially) will get corrupted. You'll try something new and it just won't work out the way you envisioned. These things are the parts that aren't really spoken about enough, and so when they happen to us we assume that we're doing something terribly wrong. I'm here to tell you that we all go through these things and there's always a solution!
When you're not improving

How to render MMD videos like a pro!
The DeviantArt MMD community is notorious for its drama and mini-conflicts. It has also been the one in which I've encountered some of the rudest people on the Internet. However, I have also been rather fortunate in being able to become acquainted with some of the nicest, talented and knowledgeable people I've ever encountered anywhere. Many of these have graced my gallery with their visits, comments, encouragement and attentions. And a few, perhaps some of the most talented, have graciously given me access to hard to get models, exclusive previews of their MMD work and even insights into their methods of doing things.
Occasionally, I am gifted with real gems and this was the case when garmus1 dropped a note in my inbox the other night. Apart from the depth of knowledge that he gives into his methods, he's also given me permission to share that knowledge with the rest of the community.
Now, I know that some of you will have, after reading only
IowaIf you visit Iowa,
you'll call her fields empty,
but she wasn't born that way.
A part of her was carved out
when she was ripped between Virginia
and the purple mountains of New Mexico.
Her gold hair, she tore it out when she realized
it didn't make her a princess.
She laid her locks strung along every road
leading somewhere else.
White hairs on her cheeks
are scars from winter.
Her hair darkens with the dampness
of summer rains.
The storms are never silent,
but neither is life when there's a tear
in your childhood where
a parent ought to be.
I've been flooded by Iowa's sorrow.
The only way I can distract her from her own voided landscape
is if I hate myself harder than she cries.
She just wants to fly
and I want to bus or train,
not because I fear death, but because
I want to take living slow.
It's the only way I ever feel.
From the air it's hard to watch Earth's hips move.
But Earth can't compare to the country.
That's my girl.
Full grown even when harvesting season's j
