Some sample text!

We all like sample text :D

I have spoken about my other half many times now, mostly when referring to any Oreo related delights i have shared with the world of DA, now i can show you his own art as today he created his own DA account.  Carl has never been one to be artistic but last year took up Origami and now has a shared passion in polymer clay making.  So here he is :iconjakyl3: my other half of nine years, father of our two lovely girlies Sarah and Sasha, the one who lives in a sleeping bag (no joke) plays pokemon and watches dvds all day long

In other news i'm loving polymer clay, much fun, will enjoy it more when it gets to the point where i am more skilled and one little item doesn't take 2 hours to make!

Also a baking session might be needed very soon but first i have been very busy with the following

Sorting out the house, from top to bottom, literally!

Doing a bit of DIY

Making a collage out of my old music magazines which is taking so damn long as i have so many of them, some going back to 2004! I even found a cutting of when i was in Metal Hammer Magazine as "Super Fan" lol

Reading Corey Taylors book The Seven Deadly Sins, which by the way i highly recommend, it's a great laugh, insight into his life and also makes you think about house closed minded the world is

Watching Star Trek:Deep Space Nine from the beginning on dvd, yes i am trekkie at heart, i love a good Sci-Fi

Also i have started to think about my eldest daughters 4th birthday and what cake to make her, not as easy as one might think for a 4 year old as she is into everything so will be happy with anything and doesn't really have one particular love yet

EDIT
I am considering selling my craft items, does anyone use Etsy? Is it worth the hassle of trying to sell things? Is it a good website? anything i need to know? any feedback on this would be great

Etsy is a really good site, you'll find you get more customers on there than if you used eBay, purely because it's specifically a craft site. I've never sold anything on there myself, but if I were to consider to I hear it's a very simple process. I've bought a few things from there, and it's super easy to buy from there too. Many people will want to buy your crafts from Etsy, one because you're an amazing craftswoman, but two because it has many wonderful features such as being able to use paypal or one of many credit/debit cards, as well as being able to send messages to the seller upoon purchase. All in all it's a really great website, and if you do decide to use the site I'll be sure to take a look at it!

thanks for the input :) i am not a fan of eBay as i got scammed once so don't use it anymore, that's one reason I'm putting Etsy off in case someone says they have not received an item and want a refund when they have actually received it, i could do tracking and signed for but that would cost more to post
is there anything that puts you off buying from anyone on etsy? i haven't really looked into posting and packaging yet, what is the most common and safest packaging you have seen used to send items?
my partner will be taking all my items to a car boot sale on sunday so after that i am going to really look into selling things :)

When I bought a neclace on etsy one time, it was sent in a small resealable bag that was inside one of those envelopes padded with bubble wrap. I've also seen polymer clay charms and such being sent wrapped individually in bubble wrap or layers of tissue paper depending on their size, packed into a small organza bag or box and then put into the padded envelope. Nothing really puts me off on etsy, apart from sometimes there'll be something really nice for a low price, but the user has put the postage very high. For me and quite a few other people I know, we agree that if the price is higher and the postage is very low, we're more inclined to buy it than if the item itself was low but the postage was expensive. If you're worried about people saying they've not recieved the item, try and encourage all of your shoppers to use paypal. If you've not recieved the item, paypal can do something about it - I've lost christmas presents through ebay before, but as I got it through paypal I was able to get some presents, and also a few refunds in time for me to buy more presents in town. Using paypal also means if someone's trying to scam you, they can get found out through paypal. This would be another way to see if people are scamming you - if they used a credit card and then said they did not recieve the item, they may have done that to avoid paypal, so you could try asking around in the forums or contacting etsy beforehand so you know what to do beforeyou get into this situation.
Sorry that's such a long post :blushes:

thank you this is all very helpful :)
i to don't like postage prices being higher than the item itself. i think i know why people do it though, ebay, etsy etc all take a percentage of the profit, but that does not include postage costs, so they are basically trying to cheat the websites and give them the smallest amount of money they can

Really? Wow, I never knew that, I just thought people decided to set the prices oddly, but thanks for telling me that. I presume Etsy take a small cut, but then so would eBay so either way you can't really get away from it I suppose.

yeh Etsy only take a very small 3% cut from it so why anyone would want to bother cheating the site that i do not know, greed i suppose

And hurray for Carl joining the wonderful world of DeviantART! I've already added him to my watchlist, so now I can stalk both of you, he he he.
